Congratulations to Rick Hemingway, the 2008 South Carolina Sporting Clays Champion. The State Shoot was a huge success, with over 200 shooters competing in a full slate of events with awesome targets set by Joe Cantey.

The weather was fantastic, we avoided the forecast rains and had the first "cool" temperatures of the fall. The Saturday night dinner and party, featuring live "Beach Music" and a turbo-charged Margarita Machine, was a big time.

The SCSCA Board of Directors accepted the bid of Back Woods Quail Club to host the 2009 State Championship.

The promotion and encouragement of organized sporting clays shooting among the residents of the state of South Carolina. To increase among SCSCA members the knowledge of the safe handling and proper care of firearms as well as improved shotgun marksmanship.

To forward the development of those characteristics of honesty, fellowship, self-discipline, team play and self-reliance, which are the essentials of good sportsmanship and the foundation of true patriotism.

Sporting Clays is often describes as golf with a shotgun. We disagree, Sporting Clays is a lot more fun than Golf and pays big dividends come September when dove season opens. Join us in this exciting and fun sport, the fastest growing shooting sport in the country.
